Friends of Gumbo Limbo's Gordon Gilbert Golf Classic raises environmental scholarships
The Gumbo Limbo Golf Classic 2013 will be held on Saturday, May 18 at Indian Spring Country Club in Boynton Beach.
The Gumbo Limbo Golf Classic supports the Gordon J. Gilbert Scholarship Fund for graduating high school seniors who will be going into the environmental field, including biology, marine biology, ecology, education, medical fields, and environmental law. Since 1995, Friends of Gumbo Limbo has awarded over $60,000. In 2009, a scholarship was added for graduate students pursuing research.
Besides the golf itself, additional monies are raised at the Scholarship Awards Dinner that evening through a silent auction and raffle. Sponsorships round out the fund-raising opportunities.
Golf fees include golf, lunch, 19th hole cocktail hour, and the Awards Dinner. Individual golfer entry fee is $175; foursomes can play for $600. Special Pricing for Indian Springs Country Club Members: $140 for an individual; $460 for a foursome.
Sponsorships are available beginning at $150.
