Boca Chamber YEA! student earns national title
You may have seen those commercials revolving around little Susie managing her burgeoning lemonade stand business. Well, it may just be happening soon in real life here in Boca Raton. Rebecca Zerbo, a 7th grader from Eagles Landing Middle School, was selected out of her 24-student Boca Chamber YEA! class to compete in the national YEA! Bright Ideas Competition in Rochester this past weekend against 22 other regional YEA! winners from across the country. Rebecca went on to impress the national panel, and won the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Saunders Scholar Bright Ideas Competition. She earns a $30,000 scholarship and a trip to our nation's capital to attend the U.S. Chamber's Small Business Summit on May 21st to be recognized by business and community leaders from all over the United States. |

Boca attorney creates national education program for middle schoolers
SouthFloridaSunrise.com Staff report May 2--Joel Rothman regularly speaks to middle schools on Law Day and Constitution Day about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and our system of justice. In need of a story to engage kids and provide a context in which learning can flourish, he created a story based on his real life experiences as an A.D.A. in the Bronx. From his individual act of volunteerism, Rothman has created the beginnings of a national program - with participation by the American Bar Association - in civics education for middle schoolers.
