SouthFloridaSunrise.com Staff report

July 2--Put on your best red, white, and blue for a FABULOUS FOURTH and be the guests of the City of Boca Raton as it salutes Independence Day with rock ‘n’ roll music, games, activities, spectacular fireworks, and tasty food all to make your July 4th the most festive of national holidays.

The event will take place at the Florida Atlantic University campus, beginning at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, July 4, 2012.

Organized by the City of Boca Raton Recreation Services Department and supported by Florida Atlantic University, and Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District, the outdoor event gets underway at 6:30pm with family activities and games. Live music will be performed by The All Star Band featuring Frank Correggio.

At 9:00 pm, a spectacular fireworks display will take place filling the skies with brilliant streams of color and lights. Traditional patriotic music will accompany the fireworks.

While waiting for the pyrotechnics to begin, enjoy family activities which include face painting, sand art, children’s take- home crafts, and a variety of family games.

No need to bring along the picnic basket, there will be plenty of food available for purchase. Several food vendors on site will provide a great variety of picnic-type foods, including sausages, hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza, chicken wings, kabobs, and ice cream. Open grills and alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the event, nor anywhere on the FAU campus.

Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Plenty of parking is available throughout the campus. Stage entertainment and family activities will take place in Parking Lot #1 located in the east area of the Florida Atlantic University campus. Handicapped parking and those with special needs are asked to use the 20th Street entrance to the campus and proceed to Parking Lot #1. Actual “ground zero” of the fireworks will take place in the parking lot on Indian River Road, just south of the stage area.

Entrance to the event, event parking, and all performances are free of charge; there are charges for food and some crafts. For additional information, call (561) 393-7807.

For the concern and safety of all, personal fireworks and sparklers, alcoholic beverages, open fires/grills, and bringing along the family pet are absolutely prohibited.
